Data Retention
For how long do we retain your information?
Legal requirements set the parameters for how long certain types of records must be retained. These retention periods can vary significantly based on the nature of the data, the jurisdiction, and the specific regulations that are applicable. For example, financial records might have to be kept for several years to comply with tax laws, while customer contact information might have a different retention period according to privacy regulations.
These varying durations for data retention are influenced by contextual factors such as the type of data being stored, the purpose for which it was collected, and any legal or contractual obligations that may apply. It's important to note that failing to adhere to these legal requirements can result in penalties, including fines and other legal consequences. Therefore, it's crucial to understand and carefully manage the lifecycle of the data we collect to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
